Introducing DDengue

What is DDengue?

DDengue is an app that users can use as a tool to combat the dengue virus by alerting them and making sure they know and have the essentials when they are within a dengue cluster. On top of that, we felt that users can assist in making singapore a safer place by reporting suspicious mosquito breeding grounds and spreading awareness. Furthermore, DDengue can also help users detect the first signs of having a dengue fever by prompting users with a questionnaire if they have been inside a dengue hotspot for quite a while, therefore users can seek medical attention before things get out of hand. By creating this application, We believe that the users will keep a more vigilant eye on the dengue virus in singapore. Therefore, making singapore a safer place for everyone.

Progress

Sprint I (Week 3 - Week 5)

In the first sprint, we created the layout page with the bottom navigation bar. We have also set up a login/signup page for user management purposes with firebase. Additionally, we have set up a few geofences with the use of GeoFire and Firebase. Unfortunately, when the users enter the geofence, the notifications doesn't push. We also face lots of problems due to the layout of the fragment but in the end we managed to fix the overall layout of the entire app.

Sprint II (Week 5 - Week 7)

In this sprint, our main focus is to make the basic functionalities of the app work and fill empty pages dummy data to help us get the rough idea of how the app would look like if everything works and determine how to properly implement the feature. On top of that, more geofences are added and the back-end part of the app gets more developed. This sprint also fixes some of the layout problems we had on sprint I and cleaned unecessary codes. The pictures below shows how the application looks like after the second sprint.

Sprint III (Week 13 - Week 15)

Many things are done in the third sprint, this is due to the change and addition of some of the features. We were told that one of out tabs in the mobile app is unecessary so we changed it with a page that allows users to shop products relevant to dengue, such as mosquito prevention products. The UI of the information page is also revamped to give users a better user experience, since we are making this app very friendly to all age demographics in Singapore. Another feature that is added is text to speech, this featured is catered towards the elderly or people with poor eyesight.

Sprint IV (Week 15 - Week 17)

We can say that this is the most chaotic sprint since it is the last sprint we should complete before the deadline. The Log In and Sign Up page eventually became fully functional, notifications are successfully pushed if users enter a dengue zone. On top of that, the posts page is also 80% functional since it allows users to post a report with a title and a picture. However the pictures aren't displayed due to technical errors with the cloud database. This sprint is where many of the bugs encountered in the last three sprint are fixed and in the end the product came out good. Below are some of the screenshots of the application.
